- 6 eggs
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 6 garlic cloves finely minced
- 1 ½ tsps Old Bay seasoning
- 1 ½ tsps paprika
- 1 ½ tsps sugar
- ½ teaspoon lemon pepper
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon oregano
- ¼ cup low sodium chicken broth
Make the hard boiled eggs
Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Gently lower the eggs in and cook for 10-12 minutes. 10 minutes will give you a set yolk that is still moist. 12 minutes will give you a full set and drier yellow yolk. I prefer cooking mine for 10 minutes.
6 eggs
Immediately transfer eggs to an ice bath and let them cool for 5 minutes. Peel under running water and set aside.
Make the garlic Cajun butter
In a pan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add in minced garlic and saute until softened, about 1 minute.
1 tablespoon butter, 6 garlic cloves
Add all the seasonings and sugar into the pan and stir for a minute to bloom spices.
1 ½ tsps Old Bay seasoning, 1 ½ tsps paprika, ½ teaspoon lemon pepper, ¼ teaspoon onion powder, ¼ teaspoon oregano, 1 ½ tsps sugar
Pour in the chicken broth. Bring the heat to a gentle boil and reduce it to a simmer until the sauce reduces slightly. Remove from heat and pour directly over the hard boiled eggs and enjoy!
¼ cup low sodium chicken broth
- Don't skip the ice bath! This stops the eggs from cooking and makes peeling the eggs easier.
- Saute the garlic until just softened and no more. We're not trying to brown the garlic.
- Taste before serving. Different brands of seasonings may be saltier than others, so be sure to taste and dilute with more low sodium broth or water if it's too salty!
- Make extra sauce if you're planning to eat this with rice or other grains and protein!
